WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Washington School District is grieving the sudden loss of Mr. Ron Todd, a respected junior high teacher and football coach whose dedication to education and athletics left a lasting mark on countless students and families.
District leaders confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement Friday, calling Todd a mentor, role model, and friend to the entire school community.
“It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Mr. Ron Todd, who was not only a dedicated educator and mentor but also a beloved member of our school community,” said Acting Superintendent BJ Mihelcic. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
District Provides Grief Counseling
To help students, staff, and families cope with the loss, the Washington School District will provide grief counseling services starting Monday morning.
Counselors will be available at both the Jr/Sr High School and Washington Park Elementary/Intermediate School, offering individual and group sessions. Parents are encouraged to discuss these opportunities with their children and allow them space to process emotions.
“Our entire school community is here to support each other as we navigate this loss together,” Mihelcic said.
Remembering Coach Todd’s Impact
Mr. Todd was widely admired for his passion both in the classroom and on the football field. As a teacher, he was patient and encouraging, always striving to see students reach their fullest potential. As a coach, he inspired young athletes with lessons of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork — values that extended well beyond the game.
