COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina in Columbia was placed on high alert Saturday afternoon after reports of a possible active shooter near the Thomas Cooper Library at 1322 Greene Street sparked widespread concern across campus.
Authorities confirmed that, as of the latest update, no evidence has been found to confirm the presence of an active shooter.
Reports Spark Campuswide Alarm
The incident began when video footage surfaced online appearing to show an individual near the library carrying what some witnesses believed to be a firearm. The clip quickly spread across social media, heightening fears among students and parents already on edge.
