TUSKEGEE, Ala. — A Tuskegee man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Quandaries Pollard, who was killed Thursday morning in a residential neighborhood. Authorities say the rapid response of officers and investigators led to an arrest within just two hours of the initial 911 call.
According to the Tuskegee Police Department, officers and medics were dispatched to the 2900 block of Pruitt Court at approximately 9:54 a.m. after receiving reports of a man being shot. When first responders arrived, they found Pollard suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, Pollard was pronounced dead at the scene.
As investigators began piecing together what happened, evidence quickly pointed to a suspect known to the victim. By early afternoon, officers had identified, located, and arrested Kareem Washington, also of Tuskegee. Washington was transported to the Pike County Detention Facility, where he was booked on charges of murder, possession of marijuana in the second degree, and tampering with evidence.
Police said Washington and Pollard were acquaintances, though they did not immediately release details about what led to the shooting. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
Tuskegee Police Chief Gary Hicks praised the swift action of his officers, calling the case an example of the department’s dedication to protecting the community.
“It is thanks to the outstanding dedication and work ethic of the men and women of the Tuskegee Police Department that multiple charges and an arrest were made in a timely and adequate manner,” Chief Hicks said. He also extended gratitude to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted on the scene.
The loss of Quandaries Pollard has left his family and the Tuskegee community grieving. Friends and neighbors say the violence is a painful reminder of how fragile life is and how quickly tragedy can strike. Authorities confirmed that Pollard’s family has been notified and are receiving support as they process their loss.
For now, Washington remains in custody as the investigation moves forward. Police say additional details will be released as they become available.
