SAGINAW COUNTY, MI — A devastating crash early Saturday morning has left three young people dead and several others injured in Saginaw County. Authorities say speed and alcohol are likely factors in the collision, which occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on August 23, 2025, in the 3000 block of Sheridan Road.
The Crash
According to the Michigan State Police Tri-City Post, a Chevrolet Equinox traveling southbound crossed the centerline and struck a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe head-on. The impact caused catastrophic damage and immediate fatalities.
The Equinox was driven by a 22-year-old woman from Saginaw. Inside the vehicle were three other passengers:
- A 23-year-old male front-seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
- A 23-year-old female backseat passenger was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
- The driver was also transported but did not survive.
- A 24-year-old female backseat passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries and has since been released. Authorities confirmed she was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Tahoe sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
Investigation Underway
Troopers at the scene reported evidence suggesting speed and alcohol were contributing factors. The Michigan State Police have stated the investigation remains ongoing, with toxicology results pending.
Lt. Ashley Miller of the Tri-City Post expressed sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing the importance of seatbelt use:
“This crash is a tragedy, and there are families and a community mourning the loss of young lives. Let this be a reminder that seatbelts could save your life.”
