Tragedy in Savannah: SCAD Student Hannah Ghidotti, 21, Killed in Port Wentworth Crash While Pursuing Her Creative Dreams

SAVANNAH, Ga. — A tragic crash in Port Wentworth on Monday afternoon has left a Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) student dead, sending shockwaves through both the university community and her hometown in Arkansas.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that troopers were dispatched around 2:22 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 21 and Market Boulevard. According to investigators, an SUV traveling southbound on GA-21 attempted to turn left onto Rice Mill Road. In doing so, the vehicle crossed into the path of a northbound tractor-trailer. The truck collided with the right-side passenger doors of the SUV, leaving multiple occupants injured.

The victims were transported to a local hospital, where 21-year-old Hannah Katherine Ghidotti, a passenger in the SUV, succumbed to her injuries.

A Rising Talent at SCAD

Hannah, originally from Conway, Arkansas, was a senior studying production design at SCAD. Faculty members and classmates described her as a gifted storyteller with an eye for detail and a passion for creativity.

In a statement, SCAD expressed deep sorrow at the loss of one of their own:

“The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) community is heartbroken by the tragic passing of Hannah Ghidotti, a senior production design student from Conway, Arkansas. Creative and passionate about her work, Hannah is best remembered by her faculty and peers for her compelling sense of storytelling. The university extends its deepest condolences to Hannah’s family and friends during this immensely difficult time. SCAD is providing grief counseling resources for students coping with this profound loss.”

Friends remembered her as a kind, uplifting figure who inspired others with her drive and authenticity. Many noted that Hannah had ambitions of working in film and television, hoping to bring her unique perspective and artistic vision to the screen.

Community Reaction

News of the fatal crash has shaken not only SCAD students and staff but also residents of Conway, where Hannah’s family and friends are mourning the loss of a young woman who had already achieved much and was poised to achieve more.

Social media tributes flooded in late Monday and Tuesday, with classmates sharing artwork, memories, and words of remembrance. “She was one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met,” one fellow student wrote. “The world is going to miss what she could have created.”

For now, a campus and a family are left grieving the loss of a daughter, friend, and artist whose life ended far too soon.
