Springfield Mourns the Loss of Robert Mudd After Courageous Battle with ALS

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. — With heavy hearts, the Springfield community is mourning the passing of Robert Mudd, who died peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Surrounded by love in his final moments, Robert’s soul was carried home, free from pain and suffering.

His wife, Kelly Essex-Mudd, shared an emotional tribute, reflecting not only on Robert’s remarkable kindness and strength but also on the deep love they shared throughout his illness.

“Though my heart is broken, I am at peace. His soul has been set free from all of his pain and suffering — God carried him home, his forever home. I love you Robert, I’ll always love you,” Kelly said in her statement.
