Remembering Kenneth Scott Eubanks, 62—Beloved Poplar Bluff Resident and Veteran

 

POPULAR BLUFF, MISSOURI — Kenneth Scott Eubanks, a cherished member of the Poplar Bluff community and a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was 62 years old.

Born on June 17, 1963, Kenneth was the son of Eugene and Rebecca (Spence) Eubanks. He spent much of his life rooted in Butler County, where he was well known and loved by many. Kenneth’s life was a testament to family values, service, and simple joys.

Early Life and Family

Kenneth was raised in Poplar Bluff alongside his siblings. His close-knit family played a significant role throughout his life. In 1992, he married the love of his life, Marla Brock, in a ceremony held in their hometown. The couple built a life together filled with love and support.

Family was Kenneth’s greatest joy. He especially treasured the time spent with his son, Brock Eubanks, who currently resides in Iowa. Kenneth eagerly anticipated every visit from Brock, often counting down the days until they could be together. His devotion to his family was evident in the way he cared for those he loved.

Service and Passions

Kenneth proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. His commitment to service reflected his character—dedicated, dependable, and loyal. Beyond his military service, Kenneth had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors. He found peace and happiness in fishing, often retreating to quiet spots to relax and enjoy the tranquility.

One of Kenneth’s constant companions was his dog, Blitz. He took great joy in caring for Blitz, and their bond was a source of comfort and happiness.

Legacy of Love and Friendship

More than anything, Kenneth loved spending time with family and friends. Whether it was a family gathering, a casual visit, or a community event, his presence was a source of warmth and friendship. Kenneth’s gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering loyalty left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marla Eubanks; his devoted son, Brock Eubanks; two brothers, Jamie (Helena) Eubanks and Todd (April) Eubanks, both residents of Poplar Bluff; and a sister, Marjorie (Larry) Crites. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rebecca Eubanks.

Funeral and Memorial Service

Friends and family are invited to honor Kenneth’s life during a graveside service to be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is handling all arrangements and offering support to the family during this difficult time.

The community mourns the loss of a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Kenneth’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his compassion and dedication.
