BOSTON, MA / BENNINGTON, VT — August 26, 2025 — Police across New England are working two separate homicide investigations after a Maine man was found duct-taped inside a car outside a Massachusetts hospital, and a Vermont woman’s body was dropped off at a medical center under suspicious circumstances.
Maine Man Found Bound in Car at South Shore Hospital
Authorities say the body of 27-year-old Declan Perry of Portland, Maine was discovered inside a vehicle parked at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts over the weekend.
According to investigators, Perry’s body was tightly wrapped in duct tape and blankets in the back seat of a black Honda Civic. Hospital workers reported the suspicious vehicle before police made the grim discovery.
Detectives later executed a search warrant at a Scituate condominium linked to the case. Witnesses reported seeing someone load a large, blanket-wrapped object into a car hours before Perry was found. Officials confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide, with autopsy results pending.
Vermont Woman Dropped Off Dead at Hospital
In a separate case, 31-year-old Angelica Barbour of Brattleboro, Vermont, was left at the emergency entrance of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington on Friday.
Barbour suffered catastrophic injuries to her head and neck. While early reports suggested a shooting, an autopsy determined she died from blunt force trauma. Investigators believe her fatal injuries occurred along Route 11 in Londonderry, where police processed a crime scene.
A person who brought Barbour to the hospital was briefly detained but later released, and no arrests have been made.
Multi-Agency Response
Although the cases occurred in different states, both have drawn significant resources. In Massachusetts, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is leading the investigation alongside local police. In Vermont, state police detectives are working to retrace Barbour’s final hours.
Officials have not linked the two deaths, but both are considered active homicide cases. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information.
“These investigations are complex, and we are pursuing every lead,” Massachusetts officials said in a statement. Vermont authorities echoed that appeal, stressing that tips from the public may prove crucial.
What Comes Next
- Perry’s autopsy results will help clarify how he died and whether more suspects are involved.
- Vermont investigators are piecing together Barbour’s movements before her death, with evidence collection ongoing along Route 11.
- Both cases remain open, with detectives cautioning that updates may take time as forensic results are processed.
Police in both states are asking anyone with relevant information to contact their local department or state police tip lines.
