LAFAYETTE, La. – The Lafayette community is mourning the tragic death of Kyaria Arceneaux, a young woman from Crowley who died by suicide this week while celebrating her birthday. The heartbreaking news has spread quickly through social media, leaving family, friends, and former classmates in shock.

Arceneaux, who attended Northside High School and later studied at Unitech Training Academy, was well known among friends for her vibrant personality, sense of humor, and love for singing. She had recently been living in Lafayette but always carried deep ties to her hometown of Crowley.

According to those close to her, Arceneaux was celebrating her birthday when she was seen joyfully singing Happy Birthday to herself. Reports indicate she consumed a large amount of alcohol before leaving behind a note addressed to her siblings. The devastating decision has left her loved ones struggling to make sense of the loss.

News of Arceneaux’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief online, with friends posting tributes and messages of support for her family.

“I’m over here bawling like a baby,” one friend wrote. “She was so full of life, and now she’s gone. My heart hurts for her family.”

Others remembered her as someone who could light up a room with her smile and voice. Many have shared photos, memories, and prayers as they try to process the sudden tragedy.

Her passing has also reignited conversations about mental health awareness and the struggles many face in silence. Advocates emphasize the importance of checking on loved ones and creating safe spaces for people to talk openly about their emotional well-being.

“Kyaria’s story is heartbreaking, but it’s not uncommon,” said a Lafayette-based counselor. “Too often, people put on a brave face while silently battling inner pain. We want her life to serve as a reminder that support is out there.”

Plans for memorials or vigils have not yet been formally announced, but residents in Lafayette and Crowley are already discussing ways to honor Arceneaux’s memory. Many have called for balloon releases and gatherings where friends and family can come together in remembrance.

Family members have asked for continued prayers as they navigate this painful time.

Though her life was tragically cut short, Arceneaux is remembered as a loving sister, daughter, and friend whose presence left a lasting impact on those who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared with her family and community.

As the community mourns the devastating loss of Kyaria Arceneaux, her family and friends hope that sharing her story will raise awareness, break stigma around mental health, and encourage others to reach out before it’s too late.

She will be remembered for her bright spirit, her laughter, and the love she brought into the lives of those around her.

May she rest in peace.
