SOUTH SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A heartbreaking tragedy struck the family of JenIsis D. Hudson on Wednesday morning when her father was killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles on U.S. Highway 50 in South Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Chain Reaction Crash
The collision happened around 9:30 a.m. on eastbound Highway 50 just west of Howe Avenue, CHP said. The crash involved a Chevrolet Corvette, a diesel truck, and an Acura sedan.
Investigators determined that the Acura made an unsafe lane change from the number three lane, clipping the front of the Corvette. The Corvette’s driver — later identified as Hudson’s father — attempted to move into the number one lane and came to a stop. Moments later, a diesel truck traveling in the same lane struck the Corvette with full force, pinning the smaller vehicle beneath it.
Emergency Response
Traffic cameras captured the dramatic scene as emergency responders rushed to the crash site. Crews worked urgently to free Hudson’s father from the mangled Corvette before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
Sadly, despite emergency efforts, he died at approximately 10:50 a.m. due to catastrophic injuries, CHP confirmed.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities said three vehicles were directly involved, with witness statements supporting the conclusion that the unsafe lane change by the Acura triggered the deadly chain reaction.
The identity of the victim, officially confirmed as the father of JenIsis D. Hudson, has not yet been publicly released pending formal notification procedures. No other serious injuries were reported.
Traffic Disruption
The crash temporarily shut down parts of eastbound Highway 50 for several hours, causing heavy traffic delays as investigators examined the scene and crews removed the wreckage.
A Family’s Loss
While CHP continues its investigation, the crash has left the Hudson family grieving an irreplaceable loss. For JenIsis D. Hudson, the tragedy is not just a headline but a deeply personal loss that has shaken her family and community.
