In Loving Memory: Amanda Jean Caruso, 28, of Webster, NY, Passes Away After Second Lung Transplant

WEBSTER, N.Y. — The Webster community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Amanda Jean Caruso, who passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 28, following her courageous decision to undergo a second lung transplant.

Amanda’s life was defined by resilience, love, and an unwavering determination to live fully despite the many challenges she faced. Born and raised in Webster, she was the cherished daughter of Janice Roback Caruso and Steven Caruso, and the beloved sister of Karli, Leeanna, and Trevor. She also shared her life and dreams with her fiancé and true love, Matthew Henning, who, along with her family, stood by her side throughout her journey.

Amanda’s story was one of strength and inspiration. Diagnosed with a rare lung disease as a child, she received the precious gift of a double lung transplant at just 17 months old, which allowed her to experience years of health and happiness. When her health struggles resurfaced later in life, she never let them define her. Instead, she pursued her passions, built meaningful relationships, and inspired countless people with her courage and positivity.

After graduating from Webster Thomas High School in 2014, Amanda continued her education with determination, earning her esthetician license at the Continental School of Beauty, an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology from Monroe Community College, and certification as an Oncology Data Specialist. She held positions in health care, including at Unity Hospital and Rochester Regional Health, where she contributed to the Cancer Tumor Registry, while also expressing her creativity through her handmade jewelry business, Tiny Woman Creations.

Amanda touched thousands of lives, not only through her work but also through her presence online. From an early age, she shared her life and health journey on social media with honesty and warmth. Her openness allowed her to connect with people around the world, many of whom found comfort, encouragement, and strength in her words. Even in her final days, she continued to inspire others, sharing her story up until the moment she went in for her second transplant.

She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a treasured fiancée, and a source of light for her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her positivity, strength, and joy will remain her lasting legacy.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fpt. Nine Mile Pt. Rd., Webster, N.Y. 14580. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Donate Life America, a cause that gave Amanda the gift of life twice and allowed her to share her light with the world for 28 unforgettable years.

Amanda was an incredible person — a true source of joy, love, and strength. Though she is gone too soon, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.
