Florence County Mourns After Timmonsville Shooting Claims Life of Calvin Sowells

 

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. — Tragedy struck the Florence County community on Tuesday when a local man was shot in Timmonsville and later succumbed to his injuries, authorities confirmed. The incident has left friends, family, and residents shocked and grieving as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

 

Timmonsville Police Chief James Allen confirmed that the victim has been identified as Calvin Sowells. According to law enforcement reports, Sowells arrived at the Hot Spot convenience store on Highway 76 visibly suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders were called immediately, and Sowells was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he later died from his injuries, Chief Allen said.

While authorities have released limited information, preliminary reports indicate that the shooting occurred prior to Sowells arriving at the convenience store. Witnesses say that the scene was chaotic, with emergency responders quickly moving to provide assistance.
