Carroll County Tragedy: 19-Year-Old Ethan Saravanja Killed in Fatal Crash on Highway 113; Separate Collision Leaves Three Children Injured

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Carroll County is mourning a devastating night on State Route 113, where two separate vehicle crashes left one young man dead and three children seriously injured. Authorities have confirmed the identity of the deceased as 19-year-old Ethan Saravanja of Carroll County.

Fatal Crash Claims Life of Teen

The first crash occurred at approximately 8:43 p.m. near Hog Liver Road, when Saravanja, driving a Honda Civic, attempted to cross State Route 113 onto Old Muse Road. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Saravanja failed to yield and pulled into the path of a southbound Dodge Ram truck.

The impact struck the driver’s side of the Civic with catastrophic force. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but Saravanja was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Dodge Ram sustained injuries and was transported to Tanner Carrollton Medical Center.

Friends and family described Saravanja as a bright young man whose sudden loss has left an immeasurable void in their lives. Community members have been offering support and prayers during this tragic time.

Second Crash Injures Multiple Children

Just moments after the first crash, troopers responded to a separate two-vehicle collision near Lakeview Way on the same highway. A Toyota Camry traveling southbound collided head-on with a Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound. The Hyundai had crossed the centerline while attempting to turn left onto Lakeview Way.

The crash resulted in serious injuries:

  • The Toyota driver was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
  • Three children from the Toyota, aged 13, 8, and 7, were taken to Arthur M. Blank Children’s Hospital, with the 8-year-old airlifted by Life Flight due to the severity of injuries.
  • The driver of the Hyundai was transported to Floyd Medical Center.

Authorities closed State Route 113 intermittently for nearly two hours while the crash scenes were processed and traffic was safely redirected.

Community Reacts

The back-to-back crashes have left Carroll County residents deeply shaken. Parents expressed alarm over the dangers of the highway and the need for increased safety measures at intersections.

“This road has always been tricky,” one local resident said. “But to see something like this happen, and to lose someone so young—it’s just heartbreaking.”

The Georgia State Patrol is actively investigating both incidents, reviewing vehicle movements, road conditions, and any contributing factors to determine the exact causes. At this time, no charges have been announced, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A Night of Heartbreak

The loss of Ethan Saravanja, along with the injuries of three children in a separate crash, serves as a somber reminder of how quickly tragedy can strike on the road. Carroll County families are rallying together to support those affected, sending prayers and messages of hope for recovery.

Officials have emphasized the importance of vigilance and safe driving practices, particularly on rural highways where high speeds and limited visibility increase the risk of serious accidents.

The community continues to grieve, honoring the memory of a young life lost far too soon, while hoping for healing for those who remain in critical condition.
