Black Rock City, Nev. — A celebration meant to embody creativity, community, and freedom has been overshadowed by violence after authorities confirmed the victim of a homicide at the 2025 Burning Man Festival. The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as 37-year-old Vadim Kruglov of Russia.
Kruglov was found in a pool of blood on the playa on the night of August 30, 2025, shortly before 9:15 p.m., during the burning of one of the festival’s centerpiece art structures. The discovery shocked thousands of attendees gathered to watch the symbolic flames, casting a dark shadow over one of the event’s most iconic rituals.
Identification Through Fingerprints
On September 2, the medical examiner’s office confirmed Kruglov’s identity through fingerprint analysis. By evening, his family had been notified.
In a statement, the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences:

Investigation Ongoing
