Baldwinsville Mourns Loss of 21-Year-Old Ryan Hines After Fatal Motorcycle Crash on I-690 in Geddes

GEDDES, N.Y.  — A tragic accident on Interstate 690 has claimed the life of 21-year-old Ryan T. Hines of Baldwinsville, leaving his family, friends, and community grieving the sudden loss of a young life filled with promise.

According to the New York State Police, the crash occurred around 5:57 p.m. Thursday evening on the eastbound lanes of I-690 in the town of Geddes, near Syracuse. Investigators reported that Hines was operating a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when he struck the rear of a 2011 Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling in the same direction.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, Hines was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, who was not injured, is said to have been cooperating fully with authorities. State Police confirmed that neither speed nor impairment were factors for the truck driver.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Vehicle Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit are assisting in the ongoing investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the fatal crash.
