Lexington County Authorities Investigating Fatal Shooting of 37-Year-Old Man in Batesburg

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of Scottrell Juarez West, 37, of Monetta, early Thursday morning, August 21, 2025. The tragic incident occurred outside a residence in the 500 block of Ash Street in Batesburg, leaving the tight-knit community shaken and demanding answers.

According to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered West suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
