PHOENIX, Ariz. — A tragic act of violence unfolded Tuesday morning at Maryvale High School in Phoenix, leaving a 16-year-old student dead and an entire community in shock. Authorities confirmed that Michael Montoya II, a sophomore at the school, was fatally stabbed inside a classroom by another student.
The Incident
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to emergency calls shortly after 9:00 a.m. reporting a stabbing on the school’s campus. Witnesses said a confrontation between two students escalated suddenly inside a classroom before one of them pulled out a knife.
