NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have identified the woman tragically killed in a shooting on Interstate 26 as 52-year-old Rose Kewlani of West Columbia. The incident occurred near Exit 82 on I-26, leaving the local community in shock.
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece confirmed the identity of the victim, describing Kewlani as a respected member of the West Columbia community. Family and friends remember her as a kind, generous woman whose sudden death has left a profound impact on everyone who knew her.
“Our hearts go out to the family of Rose Kewlani,” Coroner Kneece said. “This is a tragic loss for our community, and we are working diligently to ensure justice is served.”
According to law enforcement reports, the shooting took place in the early hours near Exit 82 on I-26. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported, but unfortunately, Kewlani was pronounced dead at the location.
