SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. — A tragic crash on Route 460 Sunday afternoon claimed the life of 27-year-old Tayvon Michael Dawson of Henrico and left another passenger critically injured, according to the Virginia State Police.
Troopers say the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. near Waverly when a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and slammed head-on into an eastbound car. The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged, scattering debris across the roadway.
Emergency responders worked quickly, but Dawson was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger traveling with him was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also hospitalized but is expected to recover.
