Chrissy “Bhrissy” Jones Killed in Over-the-Rhine Shooting—Cincinnati in Shock

 

CINCINNATI, OH — In a heartbreaking development, 31-year-old Chrissy “Bhrissy” Jones was fatally shot late Wednesday night in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood after becoming an innocent bystander in a targeted drive-by shooting.

Police confirmed that 15 shots were fired from a moving vehicle near the intersection of Green and Vine Streets, striking Jones in the back. She died at the scene. Officials say she was not the intended target, and no suspects have been arrested as of Thursday morning.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Cincinnati police were alerted by a ShotSpotter activation in the 1600 block of Republic Street. When officers arrived, they discovered Jones unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her back.

Emergency personnel pronounced her dead on the sidewalk, just steps from a neighborhood she often walked.

Police: “Chrissy Jones Was Not the Target”

According to police, the shooter unleashed 15 rounds from a vehicle, striking Jones as she walked along Green and Vine. Investigators have confirmed that Jones was not involved in any altercation or conflict leading up to the shooting.

“This was a targeted attack, but Ms. Jones was an innocent bystander. There is no active threat to the public,” said a department spokesperson.

Authorities are questioning a witness, but no arrests or suspect descriptions have been made public. The investigation remains active.
