SANTA ROSA, Calif.  — Authorities have identified 22-year-old Deputy Kylee Johnson of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office as the victim of a tragic incident in Santa Rosa that claimed her life on Thursday evening.

Johnson, a young corrections deputy remembered for her dedication and compassion, was found with fatal injuries along Taylor Avenue on September 18, 2025, while off duty. Emergency responders rushed to the scene at approximately 6:50 p.m., but despite immediate medical efforts, she could not be revived.

Cause of Death Under Investigation

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Johnson may have fallen from her horse prior to her death, though the exact cause remains under investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled in hopes of clarifying what led to the devastating loss.
