ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The city of Rochester is in mourning following the tragic death of 34-year-old Isiah Nesmith, who was fatally shot on North Plymouth Avenue near Lyell Avenue. Authorities have confirmed the incident as a homicide, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

On the evening of Wednesday, September 17, Rochester police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of North Plymouth Avenue and Lyell Avenue. Officers arrived around 8:30 p.m. and found Nesmith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Captain Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department stated that at least two dozen shots were fired in the vicinity of North Plymouth Avenue and Spencer Street. Investigators believe Nesmith was the intended target, but the exact motive remains unclear. No suspects have been taken into custody, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
