RICHMOND, Va. – A tragedy unfolded in Augusta County on Sunday evening, September 14, 2025, when 25-year-old Dylan C. Knowles of Waynesboro lost his life in a fatal hit-and-run on Stuarts Draft Highway (Route 340).
According to Virginia State Police, the crash happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. near the intersection with Ladd Road. Dylan was riding his e-bike northbound on Route 340 when a Kia Sorento, also heading northbound, struck him. The collision proved fatal, and Dylan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Fled the Scene, Later Arrested
Authorities say the driver of the Kia fled immediately after the crash, leaving Dylan behind. Thanks to swift collaboration between the Waynesboro Police Department and Virginia State Police, the suspect was tracked down and taken into custody later that night.
The driver has been identified as 36-year-old Samuel W. Call of Waynesboro. He is facing serious charges, including driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run. Call is being held at the Middle River Regional Jail as the investigation continues.
