26-Year-Old Jailene Cepeda Identified as Victim in Deadly Humboldt Park Shooting

CHICAGO, IL — A weekend of violence in Chicago has left a family and community grieving after authorities confirmed the identity of a young woman fatally shot in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Jailene Cepeda of Chicago.

Police said the shooting happened in the 1700 block of North Kimball Avenue during the overnight hours. When officers arrived, they discovered Cepeda suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not yet shared details on a possible motive. The Chicago Police Department continues to canvass the area, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in hopes of piecing together what led to the deadly gunfire.
