Community in Shock After Fatal Shooting on Jeffersonville Road: Authorities Seek Suspect

 

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. — The Bibb County community is reeling after a tragic shooting Tuesday afternoon outside the Family Dollar at 3656 Jeffersonville Road, leaving a woman dead and an elderly man critically injured. Authorities are now asking the public for help in locating the suspect.

Tragedy in the Parking Lot

At around 4:40 p.m., the Macon Bibb E-911 Center received an urgent call reporting that a male and female had been shot in the parking area of the Family Dollar. Deputies who arrived discovered a 56-year-old woman unresponsive in a Nissan Rogue. Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley confirmed she had died at the scene.

Also in the vehicle was a 79-year-old man, who suffered gunshot injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He remains in critical condition. No other injuries have been reported.

Suspect on the Run

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 43-year-old Catrell Tywan Ford, described as a Black male, bald, approximately 5’6” tall, and weighing around 190 pounds. Ford was last seen near Lancing Lane and is considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities are urging anyone who sees Ford not to approach him and to immediately call 911.

What Led to the Shooting

Investigators are still working to understand what caused the altercation. Witnesses have suggested the shooting may have been related to a prior motor vehicle collision, but officials stress that the investigation is ongoing and details are preliminary.
