Jasper, Alabama: Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting of Stepfather and Injury to Mother

 

JASPER, Ala. — A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday morning in Jasper, Alabama, leading to the death of a 72-year-old man and the hospitalization of his 70-year-old wife. Authorities have arrested their 42-year-old son, Nathaniel Barry Anderson, charging him with murder and attempted murder.

At approximately 10:35 a.m. on August 26, 2025, Jasper Police responded to a distress call at 1703 Devon Drive, located off 20th Avenue East. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman in the front yard suffering from a gunshot wound. She was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility and is currently in stable condition. Inside the residence, officers found the body of a man who had succumbed to gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as Ronald Minor, 72, and Carolyn Minor, 70. Ronald was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Carolyn was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Arrested

Following an intensive investigation, Jasper Police apprehended Nathaniel Barry Anderson, the couple’s son, at a nearby location. He was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Walker County Jail. Anderson faces charges of murder and attempted murder.
