In Loving Memory of Joshua David Pomponio: Cherished Marine, Devoted Family Man, and Outdoors Enthusiast

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Joshua David Pomponio, 28, of Manchester, New Jersey, who unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. Joshuaโ€™s life, though far too brief, was filled with service, adventure, and devotion to family and friends, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Born on December 4, 1996, in Toms River, New Jersey, Joshua grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School. From a young age, he displayed a strong sense of duty and pride in his country, which led him to serve honorably in the United States Marine Corps. His time in the military shaped him into a man of courage, integrity, and compassion, qualities that defined his personal and professional life.

After his military service, Joshua pursued a career as a Technician in Civil Construction with Vortex Companies, LLC, where he was respected for his dedication, skill, and professionalism. Outside of work, Joshua had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, off-roading with quads and trucks, rebuilding vehicles, and embracing the joys of country living. These passions reflected his adventurous spirit, curiosity, and zest for life.

Joshuaโ€™s family was the center of his world. He is survived by his mother, Kimberly Vicente, father, David Pomponio, stepfather, Anthony Vicente, sisters Racheal Salvatore, Sarah Pomponio, Emma Pomponio, Elliana Vicente, Victoria Vicente, brothers Christopher Vicente and Anthony Vicente Jr., nieces Alycia, Kinsley, Nevaeh, and Lenore, and his nephew and godson Julian. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Tori Mattiello, grandfather Paul Browder, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who held him dearly. Joshua was predeceased by his grandmothers Charlotte Mullin and Eleanor Browder, and his grandfather Hugh Mullin.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Joshuaโ€™s life will be held on Friday, August 29, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. Family, friends, and community members are invited to attend and honor the life of a man whose warmth, courage, and love left a lasting impression on everyone around him.

Joshua David Pomponio will be remembered for his bravery in the Marine Corps, his devotion to family, and his adventurous spirit. Though his life was tragically cut short, the memories he created, the joy he brought to those around him, and the love he shared will live on. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family and friends find comfort in the enduring legacy of his life.
