The Town of Guilford and the Guilford Fire Department are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Firefighter Michael Terrio, 32, who tragically passed away following a multi-vehicle accident on the evening of Friday, August 22, 2025. Despite the valiant efforts of medical personnel, Michael was pronounced deceased at the hospital, leaving behind a grieving family, devoted colleagues, and a community forever changed by his absence.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Firefighter Terrio was more than a member of the Guilford Fire Departmentโhe was a brother, friend, and a beacon of courage who committed his life to protecting others. Known for his professionalism, his kindness, and his unwavering dedication, Michael embodied the very best qualities of a public servant.

Services to Honor Michael
To celebrate Michaelโs life and legacy, the Guilford Fire Department and his family welcome friends, loved ones, and community members to join in the following services:
- Visitation / Wake: Thursday, August 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home in Madison (family only from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
- Funeral Mass: Friday, August 29, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church.
- Burial: Friday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. at West Cemetery.
- Reception: Friday, August 29, at 12:00 p.m. at Goochโs.
The family and the department extend their deepest gratitude to the community for the outpouring of love, compassion, and support during this time of unimaginable grief.
