Nashville, Tennessee — A gruesome discovery has shocked the Nashville community after police confirmed that a decomposed, decapitated body was found behind a McDonald’s restaurant Friday morning.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), officers were called to the wooded area off Dickerson Pike around 10 a.m. after workers in the area noticed a foul odor. Upon arrival, investigators located skeletal remains in an advanced state of decomposition. Disturbingly, the body’s head was missing.
Shortly after, police reported that a skull was found approximately 100 feet away, near the McDonald’s parking lot, also in a severely decomposed state.
Investigation Underway
Authorities say it is too early to determine the victim’s identity, cause of death, or how long the remains had been in the area. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office, which will conduct an autopsy and attempt to identify the victim through forensic testing.
While the cause of death has not been officially ruled, investigators are treating the discovery as suspicious due to the separation of the head from the body and the location of the remains.

The shocking find has left employees and customers of the McDonald’s visibly shaken. “It’s disturbing to think something like this happened right here where families come every day,” one resident told local media.
