35-Year-Old Woman Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Second Avenue North in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A 35-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon following a three-vehicle accident on the 600 block of Second Avenue North, according to a statement from the Virginia Police Department.

Police said the crash happened shortly after 2 p.m. when multiple vehicles collided in what investigators described as a chain-reaction accident. Emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name has not yet been released, pending notification of her family. Several others involved in the crash were taken to local hospitals with injuries that officials say range from minor to serious. Their current conditions have not been released.

The roadway was shut down for several hours as police and crash reconstruction specialists worked to determine what led to the collision. Early witness reports suggested that sudden braking may have played a role, but authorities emphasized that the exact cause remains under investigation.

“This is a devastating loss,” the Virginia Police Department said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as we continue to gather information about what happened.”

Local residents expressed sorrow over the fatal crash and pointed to concerns about heavy traffic and driver attentiveness along Second Avenue North. Police urged drivers to remain alert and cautious, especially during busy afternoon hours.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation. Toxicology testing and vehicle inspections will be conducted, as is routine in fatal accidents. No charges have been filed at this time.

The victim’s death marks another tragic reminder of how quickly lives can be lost on the road. Community members have begun sharing condolences online and offering support for the family during this difficult time.
